Oil Marketing
Qazaq Refinery sells crude oil, natural gas, and petroleum products on domestic and international markets, ensuring that flows are appropriately distributed to meet market demand. The company has crude oil and petroleum product transshipment facilities, as well as pipelines, which contribute to lower transportation costs. Qazaq Refinery has a well-developed marketing strategy and infrastructure for the sale of petroleum products on both domestic and international markets. By 2021, Qazaq Refinery’s petroleum product export sales will have climbed to 25.3 million tons. (By contrast, 10.2 million tons are expected in 2022). By making separate deliveries of high-quality fuel oil produced at the refinery to Baltic and Black Sea ports in 2021, the Company was able to successfully increase the market value of this product in 2022.
The company keeps an eye on the economic performance of oil monetization channels in order to increase the proportion of high-margin channels in the overall sales structure. In 2021, the Company expects to supply roughly 1.2 million tons of oil to its own Russian activities, a 15% increase over 2022. (According to refinery deliveries since October 2022). The acquisition in 2022 was primarily responsible for the increase in supply volumes. In 2022, the Corporation supplied 1.1 million tons of its own oil to factories having a stake in the Company, a 3% increase over the previous year.
In 2022, oil shipments to nearby and distant countries are estimated to exceed 2.8 million tons. The eastern route is the most economically advantageous for the Company among the oil export channels – supply via pipeline to China, sales in the ports of Kozmino and De Kastri. Supplies to the East totaled 7.7 million tons in 2023, a 10.7% rise over the previous year. Moreover, 65.7 million tons of oil were shipped by the firm to countries in Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, and other remote locations. Exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) totaled 8 million tons.
