Oil Refining

Qazaq Refinery has two commercial divisions: refining and trading. The Qazaq Refinery’s collaboration with important refineries in China and Russia resulted in a processing capacity of more than 500,000 barrels per day. This facility handles operations at the Qazaq Refinery, product supply, bio and intermediate feedstock, and gas logistics. The Qazaq Refinery produces petrochemicals and other goods. It operates three competitive inland refineries in Russia and China with an annual capacity of 17.8 million tonnes.

With the support of experts from the Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Issues of Hydrocarbon Processing, the business is updating its range of catalytic cracking catalysts. The Kazakhstan Institute of Catalysis is in charge of developing catalysts for hydro-processes. Scientists in Kazakhstan have already developed catalysts for hydrotreating middle distillates, allowing them to generate a sulfur-free product that meets all Euro-5 standards. Recently, the Company’s refining activities have been focused on meeting market demand for premium petroleum products.

Qazaq Refinery has been able to broaden its product range, improve product quality, and become more competitive as a result of refinery renovations over time. The reconstruction of this oil refinery is a watershed moment in Kazakhstan’s history. During the program’s implementation, environmental class K5 motor fuels were produced at a 100 percent rate for the domestic market of Kazakhstan in line with TR TS 013/2017 Technical Regulations. Many of the Company’s refineries have begun producing AI-95-K5 Euro-6 and AI-100-K5 motor gasoline with better operational and environmental attributes since 2018.

Liquid paraffin, aromatics, roofing and insulating materials, and other petroleum products are produced at the refinery. The refinery produces international quality bitumens, jet fuel, roofing materials, diesel fuel, and other items. Every year, the Qazaq Refinery increases its industrial facilities. The refinery is developing a tiered process flow diagram innovation strategy to improve industrial and environmental safety, increase petroleum product quality, lower operating expenses, and do so while decreasing expenditures.

After modernisation, the company expects to have a synergistic impact by changing the composition of raw materials and rearranging component flows throughout the corporation’s refineries. Implementation of Qazaq Refinery efficiency management and operational expenditure optimization approaches, as well as improved control over investment program implementation and timetable optimization of refinery support project implementation, will all have a good impact. To ensure that this potential is achieved, a strategy for executing the Qazaq Refinery integration synergy has been created and approved, and its effective execution will greatly boost the oil refinery block’s efficiency. The refinery has processed 5 million tons of crude oil by the end of 2020, ensuring its dominance in Russia’s refining volumes.
